Government has endorsed the Data Protection and Use Policy
We're excited to announce that the Government has endorsed the Data Protection and Use Policy.
Over 1000 people, social service providers and government agencies provided input to the Policy’s development. Without this valuable contribution the Policy wouldn’t reflect the diverse and important views of the sector. To those who contributed — thank you on behalf of both the DPUP team and the wider social sector.
In the next few months, implementation will start with a small foundational group of government agencies and NGOs. This group will help build practical tools and experience to help others in the social sector to progressively adopt the Policy.
We’re excited to announce that five government agencies have agreed to join the foundational group. They are:
- Ministry of Education
- Ministry of Health
- Ministry of Social Development
- Oranga Tamariki, and
- Social Investment Agency.
We will soon start talking to other NGOs and service provider organisations about joining the foundational group. If you’re interested, we’d be keen to hear from you.
In the next few months the Social Investment Agency will establish a dedicated support function to help organisations to adopt the Policy. Until then, please get in touch with us if you have any questions.
